Had a lovely shoot today with Jamie, Anna and the beautiful 2 year old Ianthe. I orginally met the family a few weeks ago, but Ianthe was a little bit poorly on that day, so we decided to reschedule the shoot to when she was feeling better. This is one of my favourite shots from the shoot. Hope you like it.

Two shots for you today.
First up we have five month old Tyler, who’s mum entered him into our great competition where you could win £1,000.00 . Next we have Callum and Stacey who won a portrait gift voucher of ours.
We near enough have the school holidays upon us now. We are now booked up for next week, but presently, we do have a couple of spaces available towards the end of the following week – including one space on Saturday 14th April. It was the first day of Spring yesterday and I was very keen to get outside and do some shots in the beautiful sunshine. Today I got that opportunity when Paul, Natasha and the very beautiful Clara-Mae came all the way from West London to have their portraits taken. I started with a few portraits into the studio and then we went to a Bluebell wood – only to discover that they hadn’t flowered yet! Still, we had a lovely couple of hours enjoying the Spring sunshine.

I had a lovely shoot with two year old Aiden today. He was a joy to photograph. I got some lovely shots of him with some fabulous smiles, but it was this shot that caught my eye. I’ve always been a sucker for shots of this type, as it shows a completely different side to a child’s personality.

I like (nice) surprises and today I got a wonderful surprise!
This morning, our postman delivered a parcel. I opened it to find a small trophy. Its made of glass and is only about 6 inches high. Not much to get excited about as a physical object, but what it represents is something huge for me.
WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) is a massive and highly prestigious photographic organisation based in America. Every year, thousands of photographers from around the world descend upon Las Vegas to attend the WPPI Convention. One of the highlights of the event is the Awards of Excellence Print Competition. It is one of the world’s most hotly contested photographic competitions for professional wedding and portrait photographers. All the big studios are desperate to win or to get a placing in their respective categories. The judges are ruthless and only the very best work will win a placing.
This was one of the very few competitions I hadn’t entered, so in December of last year, I decided to enter a couple of prints into the competition. The deadline came and went, and I heard nothing, so I assumed that I didn’t get anywhere. However, this morning I learnt that I had won third place in the Premier Division category. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am! Although this is not the top prize, getting third place is a seriously big achievement – considering I was competing against some of the biggest names in our industry – worldwide.
Needless to say, I will be celebrating tonight!
