After 6 weeks of the studio being closed for refurbishment, we officially re-opened for business on Wednesday – and it was great to get back behind the camera again!

Shown above are some of our first visitors to see the changes we have made. Firstly we have 11 week old Oliver and his older sister Amelia(2). It was Oliver’s first portrait shoot with me and a return visit for Amelia.  I first photographed her when she was the same age as her little brother. Next we have 8 month old George, who loved to crawl everywhere! Finally we have  William, who’s an actor. He came in to update his publicity headshots. I first photographed William about 6 years ago.  I couldn’t believe how much he had grown!

Shown below are a few shots of our new build and studio refurb. The flooring in the Garden Room/Reception area still needs to be laid (hence the rugs shown in the shots!), but we are absolutely thrilled with it. I would like to take the opportunity of thanking a few people for making the project totally stress-free, namely our Architect, Tom Williamson of Williamson Architecture & Design and Mark Savage and his team at MHS Builders, Hatfield Heath. The flooring will be done by a client of mine – Andrew Banks at the Wood Gallery in Harlow.

It seems the group is causing quite a stir – especially with the tabloids. From what I understand they make quite an impression on the BGT panel. Fingers crossed they get through!

Just a quick update on my availability before our studio temporarily closes for building works in early May. At the time of writing this, we now have very limited space available for Saturday shoots. If you are looking to have a portrait sitting done in the very near future, contact us now to book your sitting date/time. Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis and your sitting is secured upon payment of your sitting fee. Remember, portrait sittings are currently half price at £25.00 (normal price £50.00). This offer closes 20th April.

A couple of photographs from recent shoots. First up we have a publicity portrait of actress Corrina who needed some new headshots for casting agents, and finally a composite of Lara (5) and her little sister Jody(2). This was their second visit to my studio, I first photographed them a couple of years ago. Lara was very excited about her upcoming move to Australia. She was really looking forward to seeing some Kangaroos!

Had a great shoot yesterday. Toyin – a professional model from London came in to get some new photographs for her portfolio.  This was the very first shot taken on the shoot – and despite it technically being a test shot to check the lighting was correct, I absolutely love it. Toyin was a great subject to photograph. She had an excellent sense of humour and was very hard working.

I also used a new make-up artist for the shoot - the very talented Katy Messer. I highly recommend her. She does make-up not only for photo and film shoots, but she also does make-up for brides too. Check out her website here.

Firstly I would like to kick off by saying a big thank you to clients and colleagues for their lovely messages in relation to my recent success at the Master Photography Awards.

Here are a few shots from recent sittings. First up is a Mark, Jo and family who came in for a portrait sitting. Cassie their dog was beautifully behaved – I was hoping they would forget to take her home with them! Next is a publicity portrait of Mark who is a singer/guitarist. We had a great shoot. Finally we have a lovely moody headshot of Actress Rebecca, who also came in for some publicity portraits.

Here’s a publicity headshot I did for 16 year old actress Olivia. She’s just signed to a new agent and she popped into my studio this morning with her mum to update her photographs. I think she looks fabulous in this shot.

Couple of things to tell you…

Firstly, I’ve had a few clients ask me when will the results to the Kodak Portrait Awards promo be announced. According to the competition sponsors, finalists will be notified by mid September and the outright winner will be announced at our annual industry awards bash on 17th October. If any of my entrants have been successful, I will contact them straight away. A big thank you to everyone who entered – fingers crossed that one of my photos gets through!

Finally, apart from a couple of jobs, I’m taking a break for the next week or so. I was supposed to have taken the last 10 days off, but because of the high demand for my services, I postponed my break. I will be back in the office on 6th September. However, I will be regularly checking for phone messages and emails – and where necessary I will get in touch with you.

Apart from family portraits, I regularly get asked to take publicity portraits for actors, dancers – or indeed anyone in the performing arts. With these sort of shots, you can’t really get that creative, as the shots are intended to be given to casting directors and agents to simply show what someone looks like.

Here are couple of shots I’ve done recently. First up is Rebecca who is an up-and-coming actress and secondly we have young Lauren, who is hoping to persue a career as a dancer.

I’ve come to the end of a busy week – and here are a few shots from some of the portrait shoots I’ve done.

First up is Charlotte (5) and Millicent (2). They came in as part of our ABC promotion. Despite it being very cold and damp outside, we got some lovely summery looking shots. Both girls were really good and mum told me they were going to be rewarded with their favorite food… Saveloy and Chips!

Secondly, the lovely Gemma come all the way from Leicestershire for a shoot. She’s a dancer and needed some publicity shots to send to casting agents. It was quite a long but very enjoyable shoot and she worked very hard. As a result, we got some great shots. I hope the journey back wasn’t too bad!

Bookings have been very brisk in the last week and I’m near enough fully booked until late March for clients wanting to take advantage of my Kodak and ABC Cover Star promotions. As we are still very much in the colds and flu season, there is a chance that some shoots might need to be rescheduled.
