The second phase of judging for the MPA / Fujifilm Wedding & Portrait Awards has been completed and I am over the moon to find out that one of my photographs has got through to the final! I am particularly thrilled about this as after getting two images through in the first phase of judging, 3 out of the 10 images in the finals are mine.

A huge congratulations goes to 3 year old Daisy from Bishops Stortford, who join my other clients, Lottie from Bishops Stortford and Toyin from London. The winner will be announced at the Master Photography Awards in Newcastle on 9th October. The outright winner of the Portrait category will walk off with a cool £1,000.00. I’m keeping my fingers crossed the winner will be one of my clients.

For people who missed out on this years competition to win £1,000.00, don’t worry. It will be back for 2012. If all goes according to plan, it will be launched in the next month or two. Contact me on 01279 843050 if you would like to enter.

A couple of notes…

If you are thinking of having a family portrait taken to give as a Christmas gift, you should call me ASAP to reserve your sitting date and time. I have a few spaces left in week commencing 22nd November and it is likely that these will be filled very soon. To reserve your sitting, call me now on 01279 843050. Spaces are subject to availability.

If you’ve already had a shoot with me and you would like to order some extra prints to give as Christmas gifts, your order for framed/mounted prints should be placed by 30th November, whilst orders for loose prints should be placed by midday 7th December.  Upon request, your photographs can be viewed and purchased online . Best to contact me now as you know how time flies!

I know a few professional photographers read my blog, but I’ve been invited to do a talk about my work at the Master Photographers Association (MPA) Central Region group tomorrow (16th) in Abbotts Langley. Unfortunately, its only open to MPA members, and details can be obtained on the MPA website . I don’t do that many talks, so if you are a pro photographer and would like to find out how I do things, why not pop along, as this will be the only talk that I will be doing for some time.

Here are some shots from a couple of clients who have taken advantage of our great offer. Firstly, we have 1 year old Benjamin having a quality moment with his daddy. What makes this nice is that this shot wasn’t planned, but midway through the shoot, Benjamin wanted a quick cuddle and I was there to capture it.  

Secondly we have Jonty (3) and Lucy (1). Jonty is no stranger to me as I photographed him a couple of years ago. This time he came in to have some photographs taken with his new  little sister.

Firstly I would like to kick off by saying a big thank you to clients and colleagues for their lovely messages in relation to my recent success at the Master Photography Awards.

Here are a few shots from recent sittings. First up is a Mark, Jo and family who came in for a portrait sitting. Cassie their dog was beautifully behaved – I was hoping they would forget to take her home with them! Next is a publicity portrait of Mark who is a singer/guitarist. We had a great shoot. Finally we have a lovely moody headshot of Actress Rebecca, who also came in for some publicity portraits.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I’ve been out of the office quite a lot, plus I’ve been up to my eyes in proofing and processing orders.

One of the things I’ve been working on is my new Christmas portrait promotion, which will be announced very soon. I know Christmas seems ages away, but because of lead times imposed upon us by suppliers, we have to get things in motion now. If you are looking to give family portraits for Christmas (they make fabulous presents!), you will need to book your sitting sooner rather than later. Spaces will fill up quickly and our cut-off date for sittings is just over a month away. Meet Mason everyone!

This lovely young fella was in my studio this morning. To be honest myself and mum weren’t sure how the shoot was going to go, as poor little Mason was up most of the night before (as was his mum!) teething. From past experience when babies are very tired, the smiles don’t come as often as they normally do. But little Mason was the exception to the rule, he was very happy to have his photograph taken. He particularly liked my dog barking impression!

Finally, shown above are two lovely babies who I had the pleasure of photographing this week. First up is Ella. She was a little bit shy to start with, but after she was introduced to my ‘assistant’ Sooty, the smiles came thick and fast! Secondly is Jenson – a gorgeous, very well behaved little boy who loved having his photograph taken!
