Nice shoot this afternoon. This is Joshua (3) who came in as part of our ABC Cover Star promotion. As with all little boys of his age, he was a lively lad who loved to explore the studio. What I love about this shot is that this shows a very different side to his personality. He would only show it for a few seconds – and then get back to the more important task of playing!

Time for a moody black & white photograph. Shown above is Callum (2) who had his photograph taken as part of our fantastic ABC Cover Star promotion. Callum was a very good little boy and was very keen to show me his cuddly lion who sang ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’. I don’t think he was very impressed with my singing though!

Wow! What a week it has been!

If you are not one of the 150,000 people who has visited my site this week, you may not know that I was inadvertently caught up in a major national news story. The full details can be seen here, but to summarise, a Mr David Calvert of Fleetwood Lancashire was wrongly accused of being the murderer Jon Venables. Because I shared the same name as Mr Calvert, a lot of people took a great interest in me. Thankfully any abuse aimed at me was minimal, but it was still an extremely unnerving experience. Because of this incident, I was interviewed by BBC Radio 2′s Jeremy Vine for his lunchtime show. The local press have also been in touch with me.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has been in touch with their kind words of support during this difficult period – in particular my friends and colleagues in the photographic industry, who have helped to disassociate me from this rather unpleasant story by writing about it on their blogs. Thank you to everyone.

On a much lighter and happier note, this week was primarily allocated to doing viewings and a lot of post-production work. Subsequently I only did a couple of shoots. Shown above is the gorgeous Mataya.  She was beautifully behaved – despite a long car journey from south London. Don’t you just love her sparkly eyes and lovely black hair?

Naturally I was curious to find out why and on further investigation, I discovered to my horror that it was connected with the recent news of Jon Venables  (who was convicted of murdering Jamie Bulger) being put back into custody after breaching the conditions of his release from prison. It seems that an untrue rumour started to circulate on the web that Venables had previously changed his name to… David Calvert. Stories also circulated that a Mr David Calvert of Fleetwood, near Blackpool was Jon Venables – a story that is completely untrue.

Despite Venables being in prision, Mr Calvert of Fleetwood (who is a free man) has been wrongly victimsed. Because of this rumour, thousands of people have been Googling ‘David Calvert’ and as a result, they have come across me: David Calvert – a photographer who specialises in family and child portraits. I would also point out that Venables is aged 27 and I am aged 46. 

I would like to make it very clear that I am in no way related or connected to Mr David Calvert of Fleetwood, nor am I in any way connected with the Jamie Bulger case. Any accusations stating the contrary will be put into the hands of my solicitor and/or the police.
