There’s one type of portraiture that I really love doing. I sit someone down, I don’t pose them, I don’t ask them to smile… I just photograph what I see. This is what I did today with 3 year old Millie.  She came in with a great looking hat, so I did a lovely shot of Millie… just being Millie.

 Their daughter Dora (shown above) is no stranger to me. Indeed, one of my past shots of her and her dad won me two national awards back in 2007. The winning photograph is shown below.

This is Daisy(10) who was an absolute delight to photograph. I love this shot. It has a light, fresh delicate feel to it. Thanks must also go to Denise who brought Daisy to the studio and acted as ‘hair stylist’!

Shown above is the lovely Grace(4) who came in as part of our Kodak Portrait Awards promotion, which has proved to be extremely popular. This is not the shot of Grace I’ll be entering – I’m keeping that one under wraps for the time-being. Grace was a very bubbly little girl and not shy at all. She loved having her photograph taken – in between having a loving cuddle with her mum!

If all goes according to plan, all photographs for the Kodak promotion taken between January and today will shortly be submitted for first phase of judging which happens in April. All other Kodak shoots still to take place will be submitted in August in time for the second and final phase of judging.

I’m coming to the end of another very busy week and shown above are two gorgeous children who came in to have their portraits taken.

First up is Ella (3). She was lovely and chatty and told me that her favourite colour was pink. Even her car seat was pink! I also did some shots of her against a pink background, which she loved.

Then we have the beautiful five month old Gabriela. Her mum took advantage of our fantastic Kodak promotion, where you could win £1,000.00. She was a super little girl and loved showing everyone how well she can kick her legs and wave her arms!

Some more shots taken in the last few days.

First up is the lovely ten month old Daniel. I love this portrait of him – just look at his lovely blue eyes. Secondly, a newborn portrait featuring the gorgeous Callum, who was only six days old when I took this shot. Finally, we have Thomas-Paul(2) who came in as part of our Kodak promotion. A lovely little boy who was keen to check out all the nooks and crannies in my studio!

We’ve had some fabulous children in the studio recently. Firstly, shown above is the beautiful Eve (2). She was a tiny bit shy at the very start of the sitting, but with the help of her mum and my ‘assistant’ Sooty, she had a great time.

Secondly, we have Robbie (3), who came in as part of our Kodak promotion. He brought Scooby Doo with him and he seemed quite impressed with my Scooby impersonation!

I’ve come to the end of a busy week – and here are a few shots from some of the portrait shoots I’ve done.

First up is Charlotte (5) and Millicent (2). They came in as part of our ABC promotion. Despite it being very cold and damp outside, we got some lovely summery looking shots. Both girls were really good and mum told me they were going to be rewarded with their favorite food… Saveloy and Chips!

Secondly, the lovely Gemma come all the way from Leicestershire for a shoot. She’s a dancer and needed some publicity shots to send to casting agents. It was quite a long but very enjoyable shoot and she worked very hard. As a result, we got some great shots. I hope the journey back wasn’t too bad!

Bookings have been very brisk in the last week and I’m near enough fully booked until late March for clients wanting to take advantage of my Kodak and ABC Cover Star promotions. As we are still very much in the colds and flu season, there is a chance that some shoots might need to be rescheduled. Well, the search for the new ABC Cover Star continues. I’m now shooting for the summer issue of ABC Magazine, and here are our first two contenders – Grace (9) and her sister Sophia (6). We originally had this sitting booked for December, but it had to be rescheduled three times, due to the snow!

It was long shoot for the girls as I also did some shots of them with their mum and dad. The girls were really great to work with. Both were very patient and did everything that was asked of them. Their mum & dad were pretty good too!!
